Biography
Walt Denning is a senior lecturer in the School of Media Music & Performance specialising in film and television technology.
Walt joined the University in 1997 having spent many years in broadcast television in engineering, operational and management roles. He is particularly proud of being being involved with the development of co-productions with BBC Television in the mid 1970s and being associated with Brideshead Revisited and The Jewel in the Crown while employed as Head of Film at Granada Television in the early 1980s. During a second period of employment with BBC TV from 1985 to 1993 he was Head of Film Resources responsible for the deployment of film and lightweight electronic crews worldwide and the operation of Ealing Studios. He was also involved in an early BBC high definition production in association with NHK Japan using analogue technology.
Appointed as the programme leader for B.Sc. (Hons) Media Technology, Walt became Head of the School’s Media Division in 2002 and subsequently served as Head of School from 2003 to 2007. He now teaches on the Media Technology and Professional Broadcast Techniques degrees.
