Biography
Whilst completing my MA at ARTEZ (Arnhem and Germany), I became increasingly interested in European Dance Theatre as an art form. This is the discipline in which I create work and my pedagogical research investigates techniques to facilitate dance students with the skill to explore and develop text/movement/character and props as a single consideration.
I have sat on a number of advisory panels which include:
BBC Performing Arts Fund
North West Dance Strategy Group
North West Higher Education Dance Consortium
12 Degrees North Graduate Dance company
Salford Youth Dance Consortium
In response to developments in the arts and expectations in the industry I am currently developing the curriculum to include Contemporary Circus, Events Management and Entrepreneurial Skills.
Teaching
I teach across the Performance directorate, specialising in Dance Theatre, Physical Theatre, Choreography, Devising and supervision.
Research Interests
I work closely with the community and professional industry and through this have become increasingly interested in creating networks and sustainable, mutually beneficial partnerships that supports artists, the community and education, and enables dance to remain vibrant, accessible and progressive without having to rely on funding.
Qualifications and Memberships
MA Post Modern Dance (Choreography), ArtEZ Arnehm, Holland.
