Biography

I work as a writer, director, actor, performance maker, and lecturer in performance.

I began my career as an actor playing the role of Simon Green in Coronation Street. Other television credits include Casualty (BBC), Doctors (BBC), The Royal (ITV), Wire in the Blood (Coastal), Vincent (ITV), and The Street (BBC). Film credits include the adaptation of Kevin Sampson’s novel Awaydays (Red Union Films) and Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood (Universal Pictures).

I have written and directed a number of films and theatre productions, including the award winning short film Property.

I am the Artistic Director of Red Players Arts & Media, a theatre and film production company based in Manchester. I am also the Principal of children’s acting school Red Players Academy.

Teaching

I teach across the Theatre and Performance Practice and Media and Performance programmes.

I am module convenor for the Level 4 module Acting Methods 2. My current teaching also includes Acting Methods 1, Critical and Textual Studies and Performance in Context at Level 4, and Text and Performance at Level 5. I also supervise students at Level 6 on the modules Theatre Project, Video Drama Project, and Dissertation/Practical Research Project.  

Research Interests

My practice as research interests include (auto) biographical writing and performance, and the politics and practices of making performance with children and young people.
