We are extremely delighted to have internationally renowned musician Richard Iles as our special guest soloist for this concert. The programme will include a mix of styles and genres as well as including a number of pieces from Richard himself.

After leaving Leeds College of Music in 1980 he became a founding member of the Creative Jazz Orchestra, performing with Kenny Wheeler, Mike Gibbs, Anthony Braxton, Vince Mendoza, Peter Erskine, and Bill Frisell, amongst others. Richard was also a member of The Mike Gibbs Band and participated in the recording of their 1993 album, By The Way. In 2000, Richard released an album, From Here to There, featuring music for small and large ensembles.

In 2005, Richard took over the position as Musical Director of the Jazz Orchestra at Chetham's School of music in Manchester, Richard also directs the jazz orchestra at Bolton Music Service and more recently the GM Hub Big Band.
