Studying at the University of  Salford has given me a fantastic degree in current theatre practices. The support that I received whilst studying has enabled me to practice as an artist, find graduate work and meet vital contacts to start a career in the arts. This is all because of the dynamic range of teaching within the course. As well as this, the proximity and connection with Manchester's flourishing and vibrant art and theatre scene provides performance platforms and opportunities for both students and graduates alike.

Kate Daley achieved a flying 1st class Hons from the course at the University of Salford and won the award for Best Student Project Work across the entire directorate. She works part-time to help fund her MA in Creative Technology, which she is also studying at Salford. Kate is a founding member and Co-Artistic Director of The Facade Theatre Company, plus a regular actor and performer with the Horizon Arts Theatre Company who specialise in new writing and physical theatre. She also creates online solo projects under the alter ego CeeCee Digitally (an online digital defacer) whilst developing a series of pop-up performances entitled The Quiet Series. Kate is currently on placement with Quarantine Theatre Group, based at Salford’s Islington Mill, which regularly tour internationally.

"Studying contemporary theatre practice at Salford was one of the best decisions I have ever made. You are studying and learning under tutors that are not only enthusiastic but are also professional practitioners and researches working at the cutting edge of theatre and performance. They actively promote outside work that will enhance your learning, and support you whenever possible. Due to Manchester being a contemporary arts hub you feel like you are in the thick of it, there is always something going on which makes networking whilst developing your practice very accessible. I have already made contacts that are proving essential for my transition into a professional theatre maker and digital artist. Without the help, support and professional ethos of the tutors at Salford, I don't believe my future would be quite as bright."
