Richard Smith is a BAFTA award-winning screenwriter. He wrote the original feature film Trauma for Warner Bros, starring Colin Firth and Mena Suvari. He recently sold original TV pilot No Regrets to Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment, having completed commissioned features for Ealing Studios (Nightwork) and Celador (Big Deal). He’s currently co-writing the US/UK co-production Glasgow Kiss, set to star Marianna Palka, Jason Ritter and Peter Mullan.
His shorter works Leonard and Mono, which he also directed, have won awards all over the world, the former subsequently adapted into a feature for Kinetic Arts New York. His other credits include the 10-part BBC digital TV show Re-Play (created and written) and the 20-part Donnaworld for the same network. Richard is represented in the UK and US, and now lives mostly Los Angeles.
"The weekly commute from Glasgow was well worth it; the MA taught me everything I needed to know about the craft of screenwriting, but also left with a produced short, a commissioned feature and a career that's lasted eleven years so far."
