Year of graduation

Current job title and company/profession
Freelance Designer and Director at Rupert Ray / Animator

I started freelancing as soon as I finished at University, working around Manchester and London. I then moved to London as I was selected to attend the D&AD Graduate Academy, a month long creative bootcamp which recognises the best in young international creative talent. I gained some invaluable experience through working at award winning studios which lead the field of motion, graphic and digital design, such as Double G Studios, Mainframe, MPC, The Rumpus Room, Bibliotheque and Young.  I took the plunge to turn part-time freelancing to a full-time profession in 2013.

"My time at University of Salford was a mixture of determination, focus and hard graft. I was lucky enough to know what I wanted to do after University and this helped me push both my design and technical skills, so I could hold my own in the real world post-graduation. The tutors at Salford allowed me the flexibility to run with my ideas which, in turn, resulted in my winning a prestigious D&AD Yellow Pencil. I owe the University of Salford Graphic Design team a huge thanks for its connections to the industry and allowing me to push my creative ideas."
