University teams up with Royal Television Society for special media conference
The University of Salford is working in partnership with the Royal Television Society (RTS) to stage a special, free media event on Wednesday 26 February.
The collaboration between the School of Arts & Media and the RTS aims to give students the chance to hear media industry experts speaking about their work and their experiences. They will also learn more about the opportunities available for young people looking to start a career in the media industry.
Media and journalism students from sixth-form colleges, feeder schools, our University and other Higher Education institutions are invited to attend the event.
Guest speakers at the ‘RTS North West Student Awards Conference: Engaging with Media’ event include ITN news editor and alumnus Richard Frediani, Blue Peter presenter Lindsey Russell and BBC presenter Nel Hedayat.
Sessions will cover a range of TV genres – from children’s media and animation to journalism, documentary and drama.
Beth Hewitt, Director of Conversion at the School of Arts & Media: “This is an exciting opportunity for our students to learn first-hand from media industry experts – and to do some networking too. They will also hear from graduates who are now working in television and journalism.”
The free conference takes place on Wednesday, 26 February, from 12.30pm until 4.30pm, at the University’s MediaCityUK campus. It will be followed by the RTS Student Awards ceremony, which begins at 6.00pm in The Lowry.
There are a limited number of tickets available for school or college groups, individuals who are considering studying at postgraduate level at the University and current University of Salford students.
