Metanast is a series of sonic art events that provides a platform for artists of diverse backgrounds to showcase their work within an inclusive and friendly environment. Led by a team of composers and technologists, including past and current University of Salford students, the organisation endeavours to bring together academic researchers and independently practicing artists to promote interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches to producing works using sound as a significant element.
Our first three events have featured sound art, film, modular synthesis, DIY electronics, acousmatic works, dancers, noise art, improvisation, live electronics, installations and more.
The Manchester-based events are run on a non-profit basis and are open to the public, with support from the University of Salford, the Hellenic Electroacoustic Music Composers Association, Sound and Music, and the Sonic Arts Forum. For the first event held at MediaCityUK, visitors can expect a programme that makes use of the state of the art facilities at the Digital Performance Lab and Egg Suite. More information will be released throughout August on our website and social media channels.
