The University’s art collection exists for the benefit of students, staff and the general public. It consists of around 600 works; mainly British paintings, prints and photographs collected over the last forty years. The work is on display around the campus or in storage, although we are currently undertaking a thorough audit and are in the process of reviewing how the collection is used.
Over the next three years we will be investing in three main areas of collecting that support our research and teaching, as well as adding value to local and national debate and arts ecology. Our themes are:
Much of our work will be developed with partner organisations including the Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art, Quays Culture, Islington Mill and Salford Museum and Art Gallery.
