Who we are

The UK Partnerships Office is a small team within the Vice-Chancellors department with responsibility for the management / implementation of the University’s Regional Partnership Strategy 2014 -2018

The team consists of four staff:

Paul Ward

Head of UK Partnerships

Paul is responsible for managing the team and ensuring that the core priorities of the University’s Regional Partnership Strategy are fully integrated and delivered across the Schools. Paul works closely with the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Helen Marshall to identify and develop relevant partnerships that contribute to the delivery of the University’s Academic Plan 2014 – 2018 As Head of Partnerships, Paul also supports the Vice Chancellor and Executive Team in the management of strategic institutional level partnerships.

Jayne Hughes

Partnerships Manager

Jayne has worked in the UK Partnerships Office since April 2013 and is the Partnership Manager for the Accredited Partnership arrangements with The Manchester College and Blackpool & The Fylde College.

Prior to joining the UK Partnerships Team Jayne has worked in a variety of roles within the University.
The Accredited Partner Colleges deliver a number of programmes between them which are validated by the University of Salford. These programmes are hosted by five Schools within the University. 

Key Job Roles are:

  • Liaision between staff at The Manchester College and the Blackpool & the Fylde College and staff at the University
  • Ensuring quality standards are maintained in delivering of the programmes
  • Ensuring a quality student experience
  • Maintaining a key account manager role

Chris Knighting

Partnerships Manager

Chris has worked in the UK Partnerships Office since September 2013 and is the partnership manager for the Assocaite colleges.
Chris has been employed in the HE sector since 2003 and has worked across a number of the core professional services at six different institutions. Immediately prior to this role Chris was responsible for PGR student administration at the University of Liverpool.

Key Job Roles are:

  • Liaison between staff at Associate Colleges and staff at the University
  • Liaison with staff at our regional Associate College network with whom the University delivers programmes on a validation or franchise arrangement;
  • In all cases, ensuring the University’s quality standards are maintained in delivering of the programmes
  • Ensuring a quality student experience for those studying at partner colleges
  • Maintaining a key account manager role

Lisa Rowlands-Smith

Business Support & Development Officer

Lisa joined the UK Partnerships team in February 2014 and her primary function is to provide a supportive role to the Head of UK Partnerships Office and Partnerships Managers.

Key Job Roles are:

Working closely with the team to implement the delivery of the University’s Strategy for managing Higher Education provision by supporting the Vice Chancellor's Department and wider Executive Committee to establish and develop strategic partnerships with other organisations.

Providing full support and assisting in the development of partnerships with associate colleges, ensuring full compliance and integration of partnership activity with the appropriate procedures of the Academic Handbook.

Responsible for providing and co-ordinating the full range of business support and development activities for the UK Partnerships Office in order to achieve agreed objectives.

Key Job Roles are:

  • Building a matrix of key customers and stakeholders
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Drafting & producing business process documents
  • Maintaining key account management information and systems
  • Co-ordinating & providing business support for the UK Partnerships Office.
