Academic Regulations for Taught Programmes Briefing

Description: This session will offer an overview of changes to the Academic Regulations for Taught Programmes 2014/15. The session is open to all staff but will be particularly useful to module leaders, programme leaders, directors, AHAs, ADAs, Academic Appeals Investigators, Exam Board Chairs and School Office staff. There are a number of significant changes for 2014/15 so staff should attend to familiarise themselves with these changes.

Personal Mitigating Circumstances

Description: This session is for staff who have been nominated by their School to act as a PMC reviewer. The session will cover key aspects of the PMC procedure and provide a framework for reviewers to use in this role.

Gradebook User: Mark Entry

Description: This toolkit is for staff members who are responsible for entering academic grades using Gradebook. All staff requiring a Gradebook ID and Pin will need to complete this short and informative course.

Gradebook User: Reassessment Mark Entry

Description: This course is for staff members who are responsible for entering reassessment grades.

Description: This session is aimed at new Chairs or Secretaries of Module and Programme Boards or staff who have undertaken the role previously but who may benefit from a refresher.

Academic Misconduct Panels: Training for Panel Chairs

Description: This session is aimed at acting Chairs to an Academic Misconduct Panel. The session will cover definitions of academic misconduct, the role and responsibilities of the Secretary and Chair and how decisions are made and recorded.

Description: This session is aimed at staff acting secretary to an Academic Misconduct Panel.

Programme Monitoring & Enhancement Procedure (PMEP) – Training for Programme Leaders & Directors (versions for individual Schools)

Description: Introduce the new PMEP process to Programme Leaders and Directors.

Introduction to Blackboard

Description: This session is aimed at staff who are new to Blackboard and e-Assessment at the University of Salford.

Formative Assessment using Blackboard Tests

Description: This hands-on workshop is designed to get you started with the basic features of the Blackboard Tests Tool. This tool allows you to create formative assessment using a variety of question types that are automatically marked; feedback can then be delivered to the student on a test or per question basis. Formative assessments can be used to reinforce learning as it occurs and help students recognise how well they understand the current material.
