Andrew Snowden

Andrew is responsible for advising on high-level policy issues, and anticipating and responding to significant strategic and operational issues for the Vice-Chancellor and the Executive and where appropriate leading on and supporting the Executive in the delivery of strategic projects and institutionalinitiatives.

Andrew leads the University’s Public Affairs strategy and manages a number of programmes of external stockholder engagement, both regionally and nationally. He is also responsible for ensuring an informed, efficient and pro-active execute support team delivers the best corporate ‘head office’service to the Vice-Chancellor, the Executive and the wider University community.

He deals with delicate and highly confidential matters on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and the Executive, liaising with senior staff and stakeholders, internally and externally, across a wide range of issues.

Andrew's career started in private industry for Alfred McAlpine, and then in FTSE 200 group, Carillion Plc, where he held a number of management roles. He joined the University in 2012, having formerly been Salford's Students' Union President in 2006, his role was expanded in 2015 to take formal responsibilityas Secretary to VCET and UMT. Andrew lives on the West Pennine moors with his wife; they are keen dog walkers, keep poultry and enjoy growing their own food. Andrew is also very active in local politics.
