University Management Team


The University Management Team (UMT) purpose is to provide advice to the Executive Team (VCET) and Vice Chancellor in their capacity as Chief Executive.

In addition the UMT will provide a forum to consider and advise on new initiatives and ideas that may become part of future business.  
The UMT will serve as a channel for consultation on and communication of Executive Team decisions and to canvass opinions on a range of matters prior to their determination by the Executive Team.

Duties and responsibilities

1 To provide advice to the Executive Team on and leadership in the implementation of the academic and broader development strategies of the University
2 To consider, shape and provide advice to the ET on key university policies that support the delivery of the academic strategy of the University e.g. IT strategy, marketing strategy
3 To monitor and review the University’s performance against agreed plans, budgets and associated targets
4 To consider and provide advice to the ET on any restructuring or re-- organization of the University or parts of the University
5 To contribute to the effective exchange of policy, funding and performance information to support informed discussion and decisions making within the ET
6 To ensure compliance across the university with national legislation as it affects the university’s activities including (but not limited to) issues of equality, health and safety, data protection and FOI
7 To take responsibility for ensuring the effective communication and implementation of university plans within members’ areas of authority
