Listen out for audio drama talent at MediaCityUK
Six student winners of a new writing competition run by the University of Salford and BBC Audio Drama are to see their work showcased in front of a live audience at MediaCityUK this week.
The Turn up the Talent event will feature short audio dramas written by the undergraduate Creative Writing students, who were mentored by BBC radio drama producers.
The night, taking place at the University’s MediaCityUK building, will also include performances by student actors, who will be directed by experienced radio artists and University academics. It will be compered by student comedians and filmed by student filmmakers, showcasing some of the best emerging talent in Salford.
Jennifer Tuckett, co-organiser of Turn up the Talent and lecturer in Creative Writing in the School of Humanities, Languages & Social Sciences, said: “This event will be a fun opportunity to experience some great student writing, acting and comedy.
“We were delighted to work with BBC Audio Drama on our writing for radio drama project with undergraduate students this year and are looking forward to what promises to be an entertaining night.”
Free tickets for the event, which will take place from 7.00-9.00pm on Thursday 4 April at the University of Salford, MediaCityUK, Salford, M50 2HE, can be booked at: http://turnupthetalentspecial.eventbrite.co.uk/.
